How to Stop Worrying and Start Living

Last time we talked I brought up this guy……

this guy was a genius, and I hate he is gone…..he has taught the world a lot….well not the world but those who was fed up with being the same as the rest of the world, and was ready for a change.

His name is Dale Carnegie…..

I talked a little about him in the wealth tips for successful people article, and even though this guy has been dead for over 60 years, in my personal opinion he outshines a ton of authors/motivation speakers today.

How, you may ask?

He gets to the point, he has real solutions, and doesn’t give you information just to sell out stadiums or sell books.

In my opinion the authors who lived through the Great Depression are my favorite writers. Napoleon Hill being another one of these authors.

Around that time (the great depression) there was no time for bull, no time for filler inside a book.

So, Mr. Carnegie published a book in 1948 called…..”How to Stop Worrying and Start Living”……….. (how awesome same title as this blog post :P)………….

The reason why Carnegie decided to write this book, is because he was one of the most unhappiest boys in New York, he made himself worry because he hated his position in life.

Carnegie wanted to figure out a way to stop worry, and to begin enjoying life.

How to stop worrying and start living was designed to help people become more aware of themselves, and the people around them, and to begin a life changing experience……

I really don’t have time for books, but if there is one in my hands, then I wont put it down….

so you must know if I’m talking about this book right now, then it had some pretty powerful valuable stuff in it, that I can actually do right now and use to my advantage.

So, this is what we will do…..

I’m going to take a few points out this book, to prove to you guys how awesome it is….Let’s Party….

Part One

Fundamentals Facts about Worry

Those who do not know how to fight worry, die young”

Be honest with yourself, how often do you think negative or how often do you think the worst before the positive?

Did you know that even low levels of stress anxiety, can increase the risk of fatal heart attacks or strokes up to a fifth?

This is because the body is not designed for stress and worry.

Worry sets off physiological changes that make the body more prone to heart disease.

For instance (don’t judge me) but I like to read about, and watch mafia films, I don’t condone how the mafia work, but I admire the organization of it all.

I started to notice something about the big mob bosses who did not die from murder….they all seem to die from heart diseases….just to name a few….

1.Johnny “Papa” Torrio

2.Paul “the waiter” Ricca

3.Tony “Big Tuna” Accardo

4.Raymond Patriarca

5. Al Capone

6. Joe Bananas 

is this coincidence or did these guys constantly face worry and large amount of stress from their criminal enterprises? (enterprises that dealt with huge amount of crime, murder, and drugs everyday)

Keep in mind when I say your thoughts are powerful, they affect things around you, and affect your body.

Carnegie have said something, that has probably been said since the beginning of time….

just live one day at a time….

The next time trouble comes your way he says to …..

A. Ask yourself whats the worst that can happen if I don’t solve this problem.

Will you die, or suffer great pain if the problem doesn’t get fixed? If not, then forget about it.

B. Prepare yourself mentally to accept the worst. (only if necessary)

Prepare for the worst, so when the worst doesn’t happen, it will feel way better then everything hitting rock bottom.

C. Then in a calm way try to improve on the worst, which he says you have already mentally accepted.

Right now you are reading this from a phone or computer…….

Now if you were in a bad place or hungry, I highly doubt you would be reading this.

All your worries, fear, and anxiety can be fixed. It’s something so simple, yet life, school, parents, family, television and friends have taught us to hang on to worry, as if it will fix our problems. To let worry, fear, and anxiety come to our minds first instead of…..

thinking positive…….and Carnegie shows us how to reap the rewards of thinking in peace and happiness instead of worry and stress……

Part 4

Ways to cultivate a mental attitude that will bring you peace and happiness

I jumped a few chapters and don’t get me wrong the entire book is full of awesomeness, but I wanted to show you some key points.

Carnegie first step to thinking opposite of worry is…..

1.to fill your mind with thoughts of peace, courage, health, and hope. For our life is what our thoughts make it.

Just like we discussed with example of the mafia bosses. They constantly thought of negative things to do to people, stealing, cheating, lying, murder and their bodies made them pay for it.

So what should you do? Focus only on this that bring joy to your life, things that inspire you to do great things.

2. Never get even with your enemies, because you will hurt yourself more then hurting them.

When you were in grad school, and got into a fight, what usually happened? You and your enemy both had to deal with consequences.

Even as we get older, getting even with your enemies usually ends up with an all expense paid trip to your local country jail.

General Eisenhower says, “ Let’s never waste a minute thinking about people we don’t like.”

3. Instead of worrying about those who are not grateful for our services like your boss, spouse, family, or friends….remember Jesus healed ten lepers in one day, and only one thanked him.

Leprosy (modern day Hansen’s diesease) is a disease of the nervous system. It is spread by human contact, it starts on the skin, then spread to feet, hands, face and ears.

People with leprosy go through disfigurement of bones, twisting of limbs, and curling of the fingers. (I would show pictures but it’s not a pretty sight)

The point I’m trying to make is that these guys had this incurable disease and didn’t thank Jesus for curing them.

So don’t get upset when you are let down by those who don’t appreciate what you do, Carnegie says keep giving for the joy of giving.

4. Carnegie says count your blessings not your troubles…..

Miller High life beer has an excellent commercial that shows you how to count your blessings……

I like this beer commercial (even though I don’t drink) we are already rich, and yet we always expect more…..

I know you have heard this a lot, but just to eat, and have a roof over your head is a luxury that some third world countries would die for so keep that in mind.

5. ”Lets not imitate others. Lets find ourselves and be ourselves, for envy is ignorance and imitation is suicide.”

We are all born the same, born with the same tools. A lot of the celebs you look up to, were broke and rose to the top, and left the other broke people behind.

The answers at the end of the day lies within you, not them. They found the drive within themselves.

Envy is ignorance, because you do not know what really goes inside that giant mansion of your favorite celebrity. You have more unhappy celebs then “so called” regular people.

Imitation is suicide, which means when you act like someone else, things fizzle out quick.

Dr. Seuss said it best, “How can one stand out, when he is trying to fit in?”

6. The best way to forget about your worry…… try to create happiness for others.

Carnegie says, “When you are good to others, you are best to yourself.”

Think about this, when you made someone happy from something you did, how did that make you feel?

Nothing beats the feeling of neglecting yourself and focusing on the happiness of others.

Part 5

The perfect way to conquer Worry

The perfect way how to stop worrying and start living is…………prayer…………

Connect with God, the problems that you can’t solve, the problems you can’t fix, give it all to him, and then focus on things you can fix.

Part 7

Ways to prevent fatigue and worry and keep your energy and spirits high

Here are some things you can start right now, and in my opinion I believe this is a great list to kick things off…

1. Rest before you get tired.

How often do we go to bed when we are worn out, when you wake up the next morning I highly doubt you felt rested, lol

2.Learn to relax at your work.

Your job may be stressful, but you have to relax.

Did you know out of all days of the week, Mondays are where the most sudden deaths and heart attacks take place?

Try something different at the workplace, like surrounding yourself around positive images on your wall or avoid negative co-workers.

3.Learn to relax at home.

Kick back, and watch your favorite television show, or make a new dish with the spouse or just turn off all the electronics and rest your mind from all the distractions of the day.

Get out of the regular routine, and do something special for your spouse. Throw them off guard.

There are many people who are pissed off at the world because they don’t have any peace at home.

4.To prevent worry and and getting worn out quickly, put some happiness in your job.

Challenge yourself on the job by smiling when you come to work, give out at least 3 compliments to co-workers for the week or instead of starting with the easy work, start with the toughest job and work your way down.

It’s tons of things you can do differently to get out the same boring routine.

5.Remember, no one was ever killed by lack of sleep. It is worrying about insomnia that does the damage, not insomnia itself.

Learn how to rest…..when you learn that lessons, your body will thank you for it…….

Dale Carnegie wrote a mind blowing book, and to be honest you will be doing yourself a disservice by not picking up How to Stop Worry and Start Living.

What will you Do?

Why has it become the norm to think about the bad first?

Have you ever wondered could this be the reason why my life is going no where?

Who told us to worry about debt, who taught us to stress and constantly build up anxiety over the things we can’t fix?

Have you ever tried to think positive constantly? Always thinking in a good way has to be a little bit better then worrying.

The crazy thing about society these days, people will think something is wrong with you or that you’re on drugs if you keep a smile on your face and look on the bright side of things, kind of silly when you think about it huh?

The book title reigns true, your not living if your worrying.

That means; stop worrying about what people think about you, stop worrying about finances, and start living life to the fullest.

For my believers, even the bible verses say, “Be anxious for nothing.”

Seriously, the answers are within you. Worry attaches itself to even more worry, and happiness attaches itself to new doors that will open for you.

It’s your choice…

There are tons of self improvement guru’s out there, but the big three to me are Napoleon Hill, Dale Carnegie, and Earl Nightingale.

These guys came out of the Depression era, and their works standout bar none, when it comes to the self help niche.

This is an interesting quote from Mr. Carnegie in How to stop Worrying….

I spent twelve years working with cattle; yet I never saw a Jersey cow running a temperature because the pasture was burning from lack of rain or because of sleet and cold or because her boyfriend was paying too much attention to another heffer. The animals confront night, storms, and hunger calmly; so they never have nervous breakdowns or stomach ulcers; and they never go insane.”

The cattle faced the negative with positive…..and yes I know we’re speaking on animals, but you can learn a lot from animals lol.

Worry is a waste of time, and it is a magical spell used to destroy you, mentally and yes physically.

Faith motivates and activates us to find solutions to our problems…

In our school systems today, this book should be issued out as a text book in high schools and colleges across the states.

Within those age range, kids are struggling with finding themselves or in the beginning stages of depression and anxiety.

Learning Geometry or Biology will not prepare the youth on how to face real life problems, and solutions to conquer them…..

As I come to a close….

you must remember that life is like chess, every move (or choice) you make can bring you a disadvantage or advantage.

Even your wisest move can bring about a negative outcome….that’s just life at times…..

wins and losses are just two things that are apart of the game of chess, and the same thing can be said about the game of life

With chess you have to make sacrifices at times, but things get better when you keep moving on.

The thing about chess when you loss, you learn to get better and when you learn how to win you will continue to do so.

Chess is only over when the king is trapped or when we die. So continue playing the game, learn from the losses of life, and I promise you with the right attiude you will be where you want to be…..

Be the freaking Bobby Fisher (chess legend) of life….like a boss…..

but remember, your life is not bad…if you think so, just remember this beer commercial.

Your rich and did not even know it  (ツ)
